Dr. Mom

Heather's retirement project was to earn a PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Saskatchewan. She convocated in 2000. She studied educational finance, her main focus being the costs of educating special needs children in the regular classroom.

Hobbies

Heather enjoys the challenge of family history research - particularly the names PUNSHON, HAILES and HARWOOD. You can see some of her work on the Genealogy page. Other surnames of interest are HAMILTON, HUNTLEY, FREEMAN, WINSPER, JEFFREY, GRAHAM, HARDY, SANDERSON, VINTON and SPOOR. As a result of her genealogical research, she has friends all over the world with whom she corresponds by e-mail. She is also interested in the social history of Tyneside - the area of the UK in which most of our ancestors lived.

In spring, summer and fall, Heather loves to work outside in her flower garden - and here you can see a photograph of the perennial beds that Derek created for her flowers.

Writing

In the last few years, Heather has been doing a lot of work with digital photography and has written several books for our three grandchildren. The books are stories about the children themselves, and feature pictures of the whole family.

Other Interests

Heather collects stamps, mainly Canadian and British, but anything with flowers and butterflies! Another collection is of postcards, old and new.

She enjoys scrapbooking, digital photography, watercolour painting, reading and writing.

Heather also has her HAM radio licence and Morse Code endorsement. Her call sign is VE5 HAP.
