James Freeman PUNSHON [1906 - 1991] was a twin to George Ernest. Jimmy was apprenticed as a wheelwright in South Shields, but during the depression, the work he found was as a boiler operator at the Power Station at Dunston.

His parents were John William PUNSHON [1867], a coal miner and Caroline Winsper FREEMAN[1867].

John William was the son of Sarah Isabella PUNSHON, but was raised by his grandparents, John PUNSHON [1826], a coal miner and his wife Ann SIMPSON [1832]. They lived in the Sheriff Hill area of Gateshead.

Septimus HAILES [1914-1974] was born at Waldridge Fell near Chester le Street. He was the 7th son of John Thomas HAILES [1875], a coal miner, and Sarah Elizabeth HARDY [1875]. The famiy moved to Whickham in 1926. Sept worked in the coal mines and was a deputy and a shotfirer. He also served in the army during WWII.

John Thomas's parents were Richard HAILES [1845], a coal miner, and Elizabeth SANDERSON [1845]. Richard was the son of William HAILES [1812] a hatmaker and his wife Mary MARSHALL, who moved from the Whitehaven area of Cumberland to Gateshead in about 1839.

Sarah Elizabeth was the daughter of Joseph HARDY [1845] and Sarah VINTON [1846]. Joseph's father was David HARDY a hairdresser - in those days, a barber-surgeon. David HARDY was also a Freeman of the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. Joseph's mother was Sarah NEATE [1805].

Annie Jeffrey HARWOOD [1913 - 2006] was always known as Nancy. She was born in Durham City, third child of Bartholomew William HARWOOD [1886], a civil servant, and his wife Margaret GRAHAM [1886]. Bart worked as a photographer, and as a result there are many old family pictures around.

They moved to Dunston when Nancy was a young child.

Bart's parents were Thomas HARWOOD [1839], a coke burner, and Jane GASCOIGNE of Derwenthaugh near Swalwell.

Thomas was the son of Thomas HARWOOD [1813] and Jane OXNETT, of Swalwell. Thomas [1813]'s parents were TAYLOR HARWOOD [1789], originally from Barnard Castle, and Jane TAYLOR [1790].
